Learning Outcomes

The seminar enables the students to work independently on a research topic using recent scientific literature and to present it in written and oral form. Within this seminar, the students are brought to the current frontiers of research within a selected topic and discuss their own ideas on advanced approaches.

Description of Teaching and Learning Methods

Seminar: During a informational session the topics for the seminar papers will be assigned to students. The seminar paper is expected to be 15-20 pages of length and to be written in accordance with scientific standards. Each participant is expected to read the seminar papers of all other participants before the presentations. During the seminar sessions participants will give an oral presentation of their seminar papers. It is expected that all participants contribute to the discussions of the papers.

Requirements for participation and examination

Desirable prerequisites for participation in the courses:

- Successfully completed modules: Microeconomics (AVWL I), Macroeconomics (AVWL II), Economic Policy (Wirtschaftspolitik/AVWL III) - At least one successfully completed module in International Trade, Monetary Economics or similar courses from other universities

Test description (Module completion)

The portfolio examination consists of the following elements, adding up to a maximum of 100 credits. The grading follows the joint conversion key of the School of Economics and Management (decision of the school's council dated May 28, 2014 - FKR VII-4/8-28.05.2014).
