Reflection and Responsibility - Berlin Ethics Certificate Basic Module (Projekt) Termingruppe 1

Today's society, science and technology are closely intertwined. For example, the challenges of the climate crisis, digitization or health care are not just problems of feasibility, but raise fundamental questions: How can we ensure that new technologies do not reproduce old power structures? What are values and visions for responsible futures? Who must cooperate to ensure that scientific developments align with ethical values?

The Basic Module of the Berlin Certificate in Ethics lays foundations for dealing with ethical, scientific-theoretical as well as inter- and transdisciplinary issues within and outside one's own scientific discipline and offers an introduction to possible topics and case studies to be explored in depth. It provides an introduction to possible topics and case studies to be explored in greater depth. On a theoretical-methodological level, basic concepts and methods at the intersections of (applied) ethics, philosophy of science and epistemology, technology reflection as well as inter- and transdisciplinarity are taught The basic module is a mandatory course for all participants of the Berlin Ethics Certificate.
