Modul 6: Stadt im Netz
This seminar focuses on the discussion of networks as an urban phenomenon from a cultural perspective. The following topics will be addressed: the role of culture to cities in contemporary history, definitions of the concept of networks within Urban Studies, the existing scales and consequences of networks to urban spaces (local vs. global), debates on the level of formality of networks and their consequences to cities, especially on the reconfiguration of space.
The seminar is divided into four complementary thematic blocks: 1) Conceptualization: Networks; 2) Formal Networks: Culture in Planning and Policies; 3) Informal Networks: Resistance and Collaboration; 4) Spatial Reconfiguration through Networks. These topics will be supplemented by videos, images, and possibly lectures by guest speakers.
