Mobile Brain/Body Imaging (MoBI) with Older Adults in Virtual Reality

A project-course (as part of the X-Student Research Groups) at the Department of Psychology and Ergonomics, Technische Universität Berlin

Description:

In old age, walking becomes increasingly important again for a self-determined life and social participation. At the same time, there are more fatal road accidents involving pedestrians in the age group of 65 and over. One of the main causes of these accidents is that older pedestrians do not pay enough attention to traffic when crossing the street. This research group will prepare and evaluate a research protocol for the analysis of street crossing behavior of older adults. For this purpose, Mobile Brain/Body Imaging (MoBI) methods are used, which enable a detailed analysis of motor and cognitive information processing on the basis of electroencephalogram (EEG), motion tracking and behavioral data. The data recordings will be realized in the BeMoBIL laboratory at TU Berlin with a traffic scene in virtual reality (VR). The project is open for students from psychological, computer science, engineering, or similar courses with a solid background in empirical research.
