International Business Communication

The course will be held in room HBS 2.05

he seminar focuses on exploring international business communication from a linguistic perspective. We will focus in particular on communication in English as a Lingua franca contexts (ELF / BELF). Particular focus areas are discourse structure, lexis, negotiation of meaning and identity, codeswitching, and cooperation in an international context. A key area of interest is webcare, advertising and discourse in social media environments, such as Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Participants will work with existing datasets and also compile own analyses of existing data, in particular analyzing existing examples of customer communication and interaction.
