COURSE LANGUAGE
This course will be held in German and English as needed/preferred by the speakers. Student feedback will preferably be submitted in the presentation’s language.
COURSE CONTENT AND PURPOSE
The research colloquium serves as a platform for scientific discussion of ongoing and completed (final) theses. Joint brainstorming of research topics or forming research teams (with several students working on related topics), as well as feedback on early research ideas can all be part of this colloquium. Students still looking for a topic are invited to participate to get an overview of ongoing projects.
In typical sessions, students present their work: The first presentation pertains to the theoretical background of the planned master's thesis, the hypotheses, and the design of the study (including the measuring instruments). In a second presentation, the results and their discussion may be presented.
In select sessions, investigators in the department may also present ongoing work. We may possibly have guest lectures (e.g., externally supervised doctoral students, guest speakers).
To earn credit, students have to submit feedback for the presented (planned) research or generate (rough) research ideas and input as suggested by instructor for a minimum of 70% of the sessions (details to be announced in the first session).
