Zeit: Mi, 16:00-18:00
Ort: H2053
Dozent: Dr. Daniel Sude
Kursbeschreibung:
The seminar offers a broad overview of media and communication theories that are essential for the study and evaluation of media and communication situations (together with another seminar in the same module). It covers theories and basic positions in media and communication studies as well as selected theoretical areas.
Focal points are selected at the beginning of the semester based on the students' interests (e.g., health communication, entertainment, public opinion, media selection) as well as current academic interest in theoretical areas.
Seminar/Module Achievements
Seminar participants moderate a (partial) session; this includes the preparation and presentation of 6 to 15 presentation slides, handouts, or similar based on the text that serves as seminar reading for the session, including key passages, definitions, discussion points/questions, and, if applicable, information about the author of the text. A final term paper (12-15 pages) is written after successful completion of both seminars in this module (accordingly, NOT necessarily in the WS 2025/26).
The module grade corresponds to the score achieved for the term paper. The assessment of the term paper is discussed and made transparent in the seminar using a grading rubric. In keeping with the TU Berlin's teaching mission statement (section on internationalization), students can complete moderations/presentations/term papers in either German or English.
