Lernergebnisse

The Technology Management lecture mainly provides specific knowledge in Technology Management, Strategic Foresight and methods and tools of Technology Management. Beyond that,the methods will be applied in small exercises by the students.The area of Strategic Foresight will be presented through the methods of Roadmapping and Scenario-Analysis,again students will apply these methods to learn effectively. Excercises are partly given and free of choice. The students are asked to conduct autonomous research on background information and apply it in groups by using the methods learned. Thereby autonomous understanding and -application of information is taught. Teamwork,Team-organisation and the process of solving conflicts is taught by the lecturers.

Lehrinhalte

In the Technology Management lecture primarily the importance of the correct identification and usage of a technology for the competitiveness of a corporation or national economy will be explained. After decades of “free“ research,where R&D departments were equipped with generous budgets but without an efficient controlling,now an increased integration of R&D into corporate strategy is observable over the last years. Simultaneously developed countries like Germany recognized, that new technologies are the only chance to keep up in global competition. Based on these requirements upon Technology Management,the most important tools of Technology Management are introduced and their importance is explained. Here the focus is on Technology Lifecycle, Technology- Trendcurves and Technology-Portfolios. For example: a Portfolio-Analvsis evaluates all Technologies,which are attractive und which competitive advantage the corporation has in comparison to competitors. Another tool is Strategic Foresight where Forecasts are made by Technology-Roadmaps and Scenario-Analyses to identify trends very early. The Scenario analysis is not just based on one future,but rather on a whole spectrum of possible,desired and avoidable futures.Because of the systemic variation of a changing environment a failing trends or disruptive events could be considered. If these futures and their pathways are presented very clearly,scenarios could become a fantastic base for communication. This method will be applied by students in the integrated exercise on a self-selected example including software support.

Beschreibung der Lehr- und Lernformen

In the lecture, the knowledge of the module provides and discusses current research results. In the integrated exercise for the lecture, a self-selected and software-based scenario is designed and analyzed.

The portfolio examination consists of the following elements, adding up to a maximum of 100 credits. The grading follows the joint conversion key of the School of Economics and Management (decision of the school's council dated May 28, 2014 - FKR VII-4/8-28.05.2014).
