Learning Outcomes

The course provides an overview over the history of experimental economics, introduces its methods, and its most important findings. Moreover, participants learn to read, understand, and criticize original research papers in the area of experimental and behavioral economics.

Content

The course addresses the question how economic theory can be tested with the help of experiments. It provides an overview of the most important results in experimental economics as well as theoretical models that account for them (social preferences, models of boundedly rational decisions). Some topics of the course change over the years in order to cover recent findings. Moreover, students learn how experiments are designed and how experimental data can be analyzed.
