Target group: The course emphasizes that differences among national contexts create specific types of entrepreneurial opportunities. It is therefore targeted towards master’s level students who plan to become involved with entrepreneurial ventures across the world or would like to conduct research in the area of international entrepreneurship. Course objective: The objective of the course is to provide students with basic knowledge about the theoretical concepts of international trade/business theories as well as entrepreneurship theories. Furthermore it aims at inspiring students with the vision inherent in international entrepreneurship, to heighten their awareness of the entrepreneurial opportunities which result from different institutional, political and cultural contexts in different countries. The course is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. In the first segment students will acquire knowledge about the basic theoretical concepts of international trade/business theories as well as entrepreneurship theories. In the practical part of the course the participants take part in a block seminar on international opportunity evaluation organised in a foreign country. They apply their theoretical knowledge by writing a teaser document on a selected international opportunity and present this business idea in a final pitch presentation. Qualification goals: The specific learning objectives of this course are as follows. At the end of the semester, students who have successfully participated in this course should be able to: 1. Understand and explain fundamental international trade /business theories 2. Understand and explain the basic classifications and typologies within entrepreneurship and opportunity theories 3.
