The goal of this course is to give students hands-on tools necessary to run their own experiments in human-AI/Robot research. In the first part of the course, I will introduce students to simple human-human and human-AI/Robot experiments, how they have been created, and how to analyze the data. Moreover, I will provide guidelines on how to write a research paper, review it, and how to present a research project. In the second part of the course, groups of students will carry out minor variations of the experiments, which were introduced in the first part of the course, and will document their results in research papers. These papers will be peer-reviewed by other students and students can then revise and finalize their papers. In addition, students will present the design and results of their own experiments to the class. The successful completion of the course will allow students to understand how 1) insights from human-human and human-AI/Robot experiments are derived, 2) research ideas can be tested, 3) data from experiments can be analyzed, interpreted, and presented and 4) to write and evaluate research papers in human-AI/Robot research.
