Lernergebnisse

Participants have knowledge on current research developments in the field Internet of Things. They deepen their understanding of research and common scientic practices in general, e.g., in the contexts of Mobile Cloud Computing, Distributed Security Infrastructures, Internet of Things for Smart Buildings, or Trust in Digital Services.

Lehrinhalte

A set of current "hot" research and development topics in IoT will be studied based on literature research and topic-dependent also by conducting hands-on implementations.

Beschreibung der Lehr- und Lernformen

Independent scientific analysis of a small research problem and presentation of its results.

Voraussetzungen für die Teilnahme / Prüfung

Wünschenswerte Voraussetzungen für die Teilnahme an den Lehrveranstaltungen:

Students should have prior knowledge on IoT. Other than that, recommended skills depend on the respective research topic of the seminar thesis. We expect our students to be willing to work with new technologies, systems, and concepts - this also includes LaTeX.

Prüfungsbeschreibung (Abschluss des Moduls)

The final marks will comprise a seminar thesis and the presentation of its results. The seminar includes a peer-review phase where students are asked to review theses of other students. The quality of said review is also considered. Insgesamt können 100 Portfoliopunkte erreicht werden, die Gesamtnote gemäß §47 (2) AllgStuPO wird nach dem Notenschlüssel 2 der Fakultät IV ermittelt.

Dauer des Moduls

Für Belegung und Abschluss des Moduls ist folgende Semesteranzahl veranschlagt:
1 Semester.

Dieses Modul kann in folgenden Semestern begonnen werden:
Winter- und Sommersemester.

Die maximale Teilnehmerzahl beträgt 10.

Anmeldeformalitäten

- This course is taught irregularly. Please check https://www.tu.berlin/en/mcc/study/current-semester/ before the start of the teaching period to check whether it is offered in that semester. - The module offers a limited number of slots depending on the number of thesis topics offered. In general, the module organizers aim to offer 8-10 topics. Registration details will be announced in the ISIS course. - This course requires a separate registration and participant selection procedure based on AllgStuPO §48(2) as the course (i) has only a limited number of slots and (ii) requires a certain knowledge state and skill level. Students must fulfill the requirements listed above under "Desirable prerequisites for participation in the courses". Usually, this will be checked based on a short ISIS questionnaire in the first week of the teaching period. All details will be announced in the respective ISIS course and in the kick-off session.
