Lernergebnisse

Graduates of this module are endued with competences in the following areas: services, protocols, and elements of infrastructures within classical wired and mobile circuit-switched telecommunication networks, IP based Next Generation Networks (NGNs) and they will be able to identify prospective challenges of the Internet (Future Internet). The course is principally designed to impart: technical skills 50 %, method skills 10 % system skills 20 % social skills 20 %.

Lehrinhalte

The module consists of one lecture that treats fundamental concepts, architectures, protocols and interfaces of current and future open services platforms – based on converging network technologies such as wireless and wired telecommunication networks, Next Generation Networks (NGNs) and Next Generation Mobile Networks (NGMNs). Furthermore, the lecture „Future Internet Technologies (FIT)“ (SoSe) analyzes issues and challenges within the current Internet. This includes both, revolutionary (clean slate) and evolutionary approaches (NGN Evolution), to enhance the current TCP/IP based Internet. Finally, in the seminar „Hot Topics in NGN & FIT“ (SoSe / WiSe) current research topics in the context of Next Generation Networks and Future Internet technologies are presented and have to be analyzed further in a written report.

Prüfungsbeschreibung (Abschluss des Moduls)

The module examination consists of multiple course achievements. The lectures will be examined by written exams. The seminar consists of two parts: a presentation and a written report - both account for 50% of the final grade of the seminar. The final grade of the module is calculated by the arithmetic mean of all courses. The module is passed only if all course examinations within the module are passed.

To participate to the lectures/seminars/projects a registration is needed via http://av.tu-berlin.de/teaching or via the according office. Depending on the specific examination rules a registration at the responsible examination office might be necessary.
