Learning Outcomes

Successful participants in this course will master the fundamentals of abstract mathematical reasoning. They will be able to apply different techniques to prove mathematical statements. They also will acquire essential knowledge about reading and writing mathematical texts.

Content

Basics about mathematical logic, sets, maps, relations, and mathematical structures. Different proof techniques, including direct proofs, proofs by contrapositive and contradiction, and by mathematical induction. Mathematical style, reading and writing mathematics.
