The participants know the basic methods and tools which are used routinely by scientists in all branches of biological science in order to find and correlate complex data from across disciplines (biology, chemistry and biochemistry). They are also capable to understand how the connectivity between different types of information is established. In addition, the participants are familiar with conceptual and practical tools for performing complex computational tasks in the field of biological chemistry. Thus, they understand the general basis of mathematical algorithms in bioinformatics and are familiar with commonly used computational tools for sequence analysis, structure prediction, clustering and network analysis. By this, they have practical skills in bioinformatics including the use of biological databases, servers and software as well as basic handling of structural data.
