Bei der Modellierung von praxisrelavanten technischen und ökonomischen Systemen hat man es in der
Regel mit Differentialgleichungen zu tun, die sehr hochdimensional und somit sehr schwierig bis kaum
numerisch lösbar sind. Als Modellreduktion bezeichnet man die Approximation solcher großen Systeme
durch niedrigdimensionale. Im Rahmen dieser Vorlesung werden verschiedene Modellreduktionsverfahren
sowie ihre numerischen als auch analytischen Eigenschaften dargestellt. Konkrete Themen u.a.: Lineare
Steuerungssysteme, Lyapunov-Gleichungen, Hankel-Operatoren, Balancierte Realisierungen, Numerische
Verfahren zur Lösung von Lyapunov-Gleichungen, Frequenz-Interpolationsverfahren, Strukturerhaltende
Modellreduktionsverfahren.
Differential equations which arise in practical problems are very often high dimensional and therefore
difficult to solve numerically. Model reduction means approximation of such large systems by lower
dimensional ones. Topics of the lecture are different methods of model reduction and their analytical
and numerical properties. In particular topics as linear control problems, Lyapunov equations, Hankel
operators, balanced realizations, numerical methods for Lyapunov equations, frequence interpolation,
structure preserving methods.
