Learning Outcomes

After successfully completing the module, students will be able to • discuss key concepts of design and test of integrated electronic systems. • select application specific methodologies for design and test. • describe simulation tools for system design. • develop test strategies for integrated systems. • formulate scientific questions in the field and to systematically produce and publish results for the validation of the thesis. • independently pursue research approaches and evaluate external scientific texts. Professional competence: 50% Methodological competence: 30% Social-communicative competence: 20%

Content

The module teaches the basics for the design, construction and testing of microsystems for application in RF systems, sensor nodes, smart and optical systems. The module conveys application-specific methodologies and processes for the design of integrated electronic systems with direct link to the respective manufacturing technologies. Analytical and numerical methods are taught in theory and applied in the practical part of the class. The focus is on the electrical signal transmission and signal integrity. The interaction of design/simulation and test is discussed and an overview of the required tools during each step is provided.
