Learning Outcomes

Students understand critical qualities of enterprise systems and how different software architectures and technology stacks have an impact on these. Students are able to reason about complex technological choices in the field of enterprise systems.

Content

Non-functional qualities (e.g. performance, scalability, reliability, …) and design trade-offs when addressing these qualities in the engineering of enterprise systems are introduced. Focus is set on cloud-native and quality-driven engineering principles and architectural styles, including cloud services, lightweight protocols and APIs, microservices. In addition, select technologies for enterprise systems, including blockchain, IoT, serverless platforms are introduced and placed in the above context.
