Learning Outcomes

After the successful completion of the module the students: - are able to conceptualize and execute the appropriate experimental design for specific research questions or hypothesis in the field of circular economy and recycling technologies - are able to plan and design experiments based on concepts and fundamentals tough in the module "Advanced Recycling Technologies 1" - are able to collect and critically assess empirical data sets - are capable to apply resource management tools and statistical data analysis tools - are able to write scientific reports or journal articles and familiar with the procedure of peer review processes - are able to scientifically present results (oral and poster) - know to apply resource management tools such as MFA and other statistical process modeling tool for planning recycling strategies, - are able to apply the acquired knowledge in a broader environmental perspective. The module’s qualification profile is : 10% knowledge and understanding, 30% development and design, 30% research and evaluation, 30% practical application

Content

Description of Teaching and Learning Methods

The student groups apply the methods and tools learned in the module "Advanced Recycling Technologies 1" to projects which are closely linked to ongoing research projects at the Chair of Circular Economy and Recycling Technology. With several seminars during the semester, lecturers give input to experimental design, data processing, statistical analysis, visualization, and scientific writing. The students formulate research questions and plan and design and apply scientific methods and data collection strategies accordingly. Results will be presented and discussed at mid-term and final "Poster Presentation" session and documented in a written report following standards of scientific peer review publication writing. The students receive feedback from independents reviews which they have to address in a second revision in order to practice common procedures of scientific publishing.
