Learning Outcomes

The students will learn about: • different preparation routes for meso-, micro- and macroporous ceramics and membranes • a variaty of characterization techniques for assesing the porosity of ceramics and membranes • the application areas of porous ceramics and membranes • In a lab course the students will learn how to prepare porous ceramics and to characterize their porosity and the pore structure.

Content

Porous Ceramics for Catalysis and Membrane Technology (V) /Poröse Keramiken für Katalyse und Membrantechnologie (IV) • The synthesis, characterization and application of porous ceramics and membranes are described. Here, the students are introduced with soft chemistry and solid state chemistry methods which are used for the preparation of micro- , meso- and macroporous ceramics. In addition, the characterization of the porous structures is part of this lecture. The application of porous ceramics in the fields of catalysis and membranes will be covered. Porous Ceramics (PR) / Poröse Funktionskeramiken (PR) • The synthesis and characterization of porous ceramics will be covered in the lab course.
