Learning Outcomes

After this course, the student is able to: - Discuss the motivation, merits, and challenges in the field of nanotechnology - Describe smart nanomaterials including graphene, quantum dots, metalic nanoparticles, magnetic nanomaterials, carbon nanotubes and hyper-branched organic polymers - Discuss the synthesis of nanomaterials and their applications - Be familiar to special research projects with the aid of research paper presentation during the semester - Discuss the applications and significance of nanomaterials in the field of bioelectronics - Discuss the impact and motivation of nanotechnology in health care, agriculture and food safety - Be familiar to nanotechnology applications in medical biosensors

Content

1. Smart nanomaterials including graphene, quantum dots, metalic nanoparticles, magnetic nanomaterials, carbon nanotubes and hyper-branched organic polymers 2. Nanomaterial synthesis 3. Application areas of smart nanomaterials 4. Major differences between organic and inorganic nanomaterials 5. Use of nanotechnology to improve the health care, agriculture and food sectors 6. Medical biosensors 7. Research paper presentations covering the synthesis and applications of nanomaterials

Description of Teaching and Learning Methods

Vorlesung (VL): Vermittlung des Stoffes durch eine Vorlesung (Kern des Moduls) Seminar (SE): Vertiefung des Vorlesungsstoffes anhand ausgewählter Themen. Praktikum (PR): Erlernen und Veranschaulichen/Vertiefen der Kenntnisse über Brennstoffzellen anhand selbständig durchgeführter Versuche.
