This module provides basic knowledge about the mathematical modeling, analysis and numerical
simulation of neural systems under the influence of noise using stochastic processes. Specific topics
addressed are: continuous time Markov chains, diffusion approximation, mean-field theories for
simple neural networks, Brownian motion, stochastic integration, stochastic differential equations ,
stochastic models for single neurons (stochastic integrate-and-fire models, random oscillators)
