Learning Outcomes

Basic knowledge in scientific computing. Ability to design and implement computational/numerical experiments by implementing mathematical algorithms in C++, running them automatically and evaluating the results. Knowledge about basic data structures and algorithms, and the use of multi-core systems and GPUs. Overview of basic paradigms: direct programming (imperative), mathematical optimization (declarative), machine learning (inductive).

Content

Computational environment and automation; programming in C++; software development tools; floating point numbers; data formats; complexity theory; data structures; graphs and algorithms on graphs; numerical experiments; parallel computing; GPU programming; mathematical optimization; quantum computing; machine learning.
