Philosophy and Ethics of the Human-Machine-Interaction
Lena Fiedler
Machines, robots and AI are present in our everyday life. It is no longer about automation “in the shadows”, i.e, the factory floors or in inaccessible data centers, but rather the interaction between humans and machines is increasingly moving to the forefront of technological visions. Already today machines step out of the shadow and are becoming addressable.
In the block seminar, we examine these technological developments from an ethical and philosophical perspective. What technology do we actually need and how should it work? Do autonomous technical systems create a “responsibility gap” – and if so, how can we deal with it? Should we “teach” machines ethical principles – can we even do that? What social changes – for example in the world of work – are desirable?
