Learning Outcomes

The students will learn: - have a sound basic knowledge of automated screening, cultivation and process development methods of biotechnologically products - Know the theoretical basis of the individual basic operations and be able to assess their limits, - have an overview of the currently available Liquid Handling Stations and their operation - use model to represent, monitor and control bioprocesses - are able to create small models based on literature and your knowledge - have knowledge of the methods of product development in biotechnological processes

Content

- Lectures and seminars on the topics: - Modelling and simulation of bioprocesses - Modell predictive control - Consistent bioprocess development - Automation in Bioprocess development - Screening and cultivation methods on a micro scale from μl- to ml-scale (microtiter plates, deep well plates, microbioreactors) - Practical exercise: - creating a mechanistic model in python - writing an automation protocol for a liquid handling station (Tecan or Hamilton)
