Learning Outcomes

This is an advanced project course in Numerical Analysis. Students are able to apply numerical methods to practical problems. They can work in teams and improved their programming skills.

Content

Modelling and simulation of physical and chemical processes that occur in engineering applications. The subject as well as the numerical methods are chosen by the participants in agreement with the advisor. Typical problems are from linear and nonlinear elasticity, fluid mechanics, themodynamics and chemical engineering. Typical methods are finite elements, finite volumes, finite differences and the boundary element method. The participants implement a code that solves the assigned problem.
