Learning Outcomes

Students have profound knowledge about principles and methods of geoinformatics as well as geographical information including its acquisition, modelling, management, processing, analysis, presentation, and dissemination. They are familiar with spatial data models, data structures, and algorithms and are able to apply them to analytically solve geospatial problems. They understand the principles of object-oriented programming and are capable of implementing common spatial data structures and algorithms.

Content

Spatial and geographic data, discrete objects and continuous fields, thematic, geometric, and topologic modelling, raster and vector representations, spatial data structures, spatial reference systems, map projections, spatial data analysis, spatial algorithms, surface and network analysis, topological relations, analytical modelling, maps, object oriented programming, control flow, (abstract) classes and interfaces, inheritance, libraries for geographical information analysis.
