Learning Outcomes

To reply to operational and strategic questions in sustainable and global logistics management the students are enabled to understand relevant theories of logistics management and to apply them to praxis-oriented examples in logistics. They know the tasks, content and challenges in logistics and can detect the integrated operating principles of logistics. The students learn how to work on a practical case study. The course aims at developing an understanding of design tasks in logistics and getting to know the dependencies and inter-dependencies to other corporate functions. Furthermore, the students learn about sustainable and intercultural aspects for building and managing global value-adding networks and apply this knowledge in selective practical exercises.

Content

During the course Sustainable Logistics Management the fundamentals of applied methodologies and instruments for planning and managing logistics processes are introduced and the relevance of logistics infrastructure in globally dispatched logistics systems is discussed. The students get an overview of the management of logistics systems and the applied technologies. In addition to fundamentals of logistics the main challenges, design and managing possibilities of sustainable logistics, interdisciplinary topics like measurement systems for sustainability in logistics are presented. This displays which design possibilities exist in global value-adding networks and what they contribute to a holistic, sustainable and global logistics strategy.
