Learning Outcomes

The class teaches how to deal with data in the field of transportation. The discussed techniques will be applied to problems in the field of agent-based transport simulations.

Content

The content will be based on the book "Data Science for Transport" by Charles Fox, oriented towards agent-based transport simulations. At the beginning of the semester, the sections of the book will be distributed among the participants. During the semester, the sections will be presented by the participants followed by discussion and experimental work. Everybody should roughly give one of these short talks during the semester, plus take the lead in the corresponding programming lab. The class includes, but is not limited to the following topics: - Python for Data Science Primer - Database Design - Data Preperation - Spatial Data - Machine Learning - Spartial Analysis - Data Visualisation - Big Data
