Learning Outcomes

-Students acquire the abilities to systematically analyse scientific literature in various fields, e.g. Innovation, Circular Economy, Industrial Ecology and tying the knowledge to business cases while working in teams under real business conditions. Practicial applicationn methods such as Design Thinking Methods and ideation supplement the learning outcomes. -The ability to reflect the effects of business innnovation in respect to the social and ecologcial environment (system thinking) -Development of deep understanding of connections and interrelatedness of new technologiess, changes in societal trends and behaviors. and the environment (waste streams, effect on nature) -The ability to use new acquired knowledge to create solutions for real world business challegnes

Content

The module is an interactive learning course where students work together in small teams to come up with a scientifically based proposal on how to tackle real world business challenges in the field of circular economy, digital business models and recycling. Close collarboration through expert interviews, guest lectures and mentoring provided by Remondis support the group work on case studies with a focus on digital business models. The students will learn about the interconnectedness of systems and how business practices and decisions affect the environment. Next to the development of scientific research skills, the students will learn how to apply design thining and ideation methods. The students will be working in small teams to produce written and oral outputs based on exisitng research and their own empirical research outcomes through testing and expert interviews. The students will be graded on their written and oral presentation performances by both academic and professional experts.

Test description (Module completion)

The portfolio examination consists of the following elements, adding up to a maximum of 100 credits. The grading follows the joint conversion key of the School of Economics and Management (decision of the school's council dated May 28, 2014 - FKR VII-4/8-28.05.2014).
