Learning Outcomes

The module "Retail Logistics" will provide students with the necessary tools and knowledge to analyze and optimize different distribution networks in retail. The knowledge acquired and practically reinforced during this module will help the students to work in retail logistics systems.

Content

Content Retail Logistics I The Course Retail Logistics I focusses on the evaluation of different logistics structures in retail. For this purpose the current structural conditions of germany and the most important influencing factors for the design of logistics networks are analyzed in detail. To complement the lectures there will be two field trips to companies active in the field of retail logistics and a written group-homework will be assigned to students. Content Retail Logistics II The course Retail Logistics II builds on the content of Retail Logistics I. It focusses on innovative identification- and communication-systems in the context of retail logistics. Further important topics discussed in this course are the concept of purchasing logistics and the challenges and opportunities of internationalising in retail logistics. To complement the lectures, students will be asked to work out short presentations about current topics in logistics, such as e-commerce or electromobility.

Description of Teaching and Learning Methods

The module offered takes the form of two integrated courses with a sequence of theory and practically designed exercise and field trip blocks in which the contents of the lectures, exercises and field trips are summarised and deepened.

Test description (Module completion)

The portfolio examination consists of the following elements, adding up to a maximum of 100 credits. The grading follows the joint conversion key of the School of Economics and Management (decision of the school's council dated May 28, 2014 - FKR VII-4/8-28.05.2014).

Registration Procedures

At the beginning of each semester, an information lecture ("Infoveranstaltung") is offered for all students interested in studying logistics. Place and time of this event will be announced on the information boards of the Chair of Logistics and on the homepage (www.logistik.tu-berlin.de). Attendance at this event is highly recommended. Registrations for all courses at the chair of logistics take place in this event.
