Learning Outcomes

Students of the module are given a general overview of different topics concerning diversity management. Theyare put in the position to understand diverse backgrounds of employees in companies and learn how to deal with them. The module is tought interactively.

Content

The module "Diversity Management" teaches the basics of corporate diversity management. The module is recommended to students, who aspire a leadership position in an interational operating company or organization and who want to learn, how diverse teams can performe effectively. Concretely, the module deals with understanding how the diversity of a company's workforce along the dimensions: gender, age, cultural background, sexual orientation, relegion and professional and academic background can be used to achieve the corporate goals. It also addresses the specific role of corporate and team culture that need to customize it according to the executives. The course provides the necessary theoretical background, which is complemented by concrete case studies and best practicesfrom business cases.

Description of Teaching and Learning Methods

The module offered takes the form of an integrated block course with a sequence of theory and practically designed exercise blocks, in which course contents are summarised and deepened.

Test description (Module completion)

The portfolio examination consists of the following elements, adding up to a maximum of 100 credits. The grading follows the joint conversion key of the School of Economics and Management (decision of the school's council dated May 28, 2014 - FKR VII-4/8-28.05.2014).

Registration Procedures

At the beginning of each semester, an information lecture ("Infoveranstaltung") is offered for all students interested in studying logistics. Place and time of this event will be announced on the information boards of the Chair of Logistics and on the homepage (www.logistik.tu-berlin.de). Attendance at this event is highly recommended. Registrations for all courses at the chair of logistics take place in this event.
