Learning Outcomes

After successfully completing this module, participants will be able to design both, autonomous and within teamwork, and give a presentation of a conclusive approach to solve a sophisticated practical problem in the areas of organizational crisis, corporate restructuring, turnaround, and bankruptcy. Students draw on scientific methods and techniques to develop and design these problem-solving approaches. As a result, they are exceptionally qualified to create a research approach for a practically relevant question.

Content

The students of this practically orientated research project operate in groups and work on the latest, sophisticated subjects within the context of empirical or conceptual studies. The subject areas to work on consist of topics like organizational crisis, corporate restructuring, turnaround and bankruptcy.

The Workload of the module sums up to 180.0 Hours. Therefore the module contains 6 Credits.

Description of Teaching and Learning Methods

The module is a practice-oriented research project. There are three obligatory appointments (kick-off meeting, intermediate presentation and final presentation). With the support of mentors, the students work in teams on different problems from the practical sphere and introduce the solutions in an intermediate presentation, a final presentation and a project report. The teams (usually 2 people) are supported and examined during the project by experts from practice and science.

Requirements for participation and examination

Desirable prerequisites for participation in the courses:

Basic knowledge of (strategic) controlling and/or (strategic) management, in particular in the field of crisis management.

Test description (Module completion)

The portfolio examination consists of the following elements, adding up to a maximum of 100 credits. The grading follows the joint conversion key of the School of Economics and Management (decision of the school's council dated May 28, 2014 - FKR VII-4/8-28.05.2014).
