Learning Outcomes

This module teaches students the basic operative and strategic aspects of managing an enterprise-wide project landscape. Students acquire the necessary qualifications for understanding and discussing tasks, contents and challenges of strategic project management. State of the art project management concepts with special emphasis on (digital) transformation will be discussed. In addition, students learn the basic aspects of agile organizations and learn to apply (agile) project management techniques. All aspects will be integrated in a practical case over spanning the entire module.

- turning corporate strategy into reality - project orientated leadership styles and instruments - project-oriented organization - its competencies, organizational structure, processes and tools - benefit orientation - agile and hybrid process models in project management - strategic resource management in a multi-project environment - agile project portfolio and programme management - agile organizations - scaling up with relevant frameworks, e.g. SCRUM of SCRUM, NEXUS, SAFE

Description of Teaching and Learning Methods

The lecture provides the students with structured theoretical foundations, encouraging the engagement of students in discussion during the lecture. The exercise sessions expand on the content and use current research literature. Both are offered in the form of a block event.

Desirable prerequisites for participation in the courses:

Bachelor thesis passed, fundamentals of single project management (e.g. module "Fundamentals of Project Management" #70210 or equivalent

Test description (Module completion)

The portfolio examination consists of the following elements, adding up to a maximum of 100 credits. The grading follows the joint conversion key of the School of Economics and Management (decision of the school's council dated May 28, 2014 - FKR VII-4/8-28.05.2014).
